This past weekend we made the trip to Wake County Speedway on Friday and Florence Motor Speedway on Saturday.
On Friday, Joshua would fire off fourth and immediately go to work on one of his tough competitors, Gavin Holland. Unfortunately, the two would make contact coming out of turn four resulting in right front damage and creating a slight tire rub. This damage would not be enough to sideline the team, but it would cause the car to get tighter and tighter throughout the run and Fireball eventually brought the car home in third. It was a disappointing end to the evening, but another strong podium finish would be enough to remain the points leader. The team will unfortunately be taking next Friday off to eliminate the chance of tearing the car up before the Bandolero Nationals at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday. If Friday night happens to rainout, the team will be able to make the makeup race and continue their hunt for the track championship.
Saturday was one of those days that was nothing to write home about yet nothing to hang your hat on either. Joshua qualified in the middle of the very competitive 14 car field. He would go on to battle hard throughout the race and bring the car home in one piece in fifth. A top five against that field of cars gives the team a little momentum heading into Charlotte!
