This past weekend we wrapped up our 2024 campaign at Dillon Motor Speedway. This was the teams first year in the Challenger/Charger Late Model Division and it was definitely a great one!
Joshua was able to finish out the year in spectacular fashion by making a last lap high side pass to bring it home with a strong fourth place finish marking his fifth top five finish in 2024.
"This year was all about getting seat time, learning the car, and how to communicate to my dad about what the car is doing" said Culbreth.
With turning 14 in a few short weeks, Joshua will be applying for his NASCAR license so he can compete in the NASCAR Regional Division II Series. The team is really looking forward to seeing what 2025 has to offer for young Fireball.
Be sure to stay tuned to FireballCulbrethRacing.com for schedule releases, build season updates, and overall all things Fireball throughout the offseason and we look forward to seeing everyone in 2025!
This weekend was one of adversity and it forced us to learn how to fight through it and make the most of a night. In qualifying, there was a bit of miscommunication between Joshua and the official at the end of pit road. The official motioned him forward and Joshua took that as roll on the track but he only meant roll forward. Ultimately the track had Joshua come back down pit road and wait for the next round of qualifying. Unfortunately, once Joshua made his second round of qualifying, he was beginning to overhead due to being taped up for qualifying and was forced to pull in before damaging the motor.
In the race, Fireball was able to remain focused and battle his way to a seventh place finish! The driver and crew both learned a lot and are busy preparing for the Truck Service of Florence 300 Night on October 5th!
The first race back after nearly two months off has now come and gone, and we are happy to report that it was a quiet evening and Joshua was able to continue to learn what it takes to make speed with this new car. In the Challenger division, Fireball was able to qualify sixth and followed that up with a solid sixth place finish as well.
After talking things over with the team, Fireball and the crew decided to make laps in the Late Model division as well. It was known that he wouldn't be super competitive, but it is very hard to turn down any laps on track when you are trying to get seat time. After starting seventh, Fireball was able to log laps and bring the car home in sixth which was very impressive!
NEXT RACE : September 21st at Dillon Motor Speedway for the Barfield Properties 300 Night!
After struggling with the handling as well as being down on gear last race, the team made some big changes for this weeks race. It was clear as soon as the car unloaded that it was leaps and bounds better than the previous race. Joshua was able to clock in fifth quick and run fifth the entire race and even started running down the two cars ahead of him. Unfortunately, lap traffic slowed the teams efforts to complete the passes necessary to bring home a top three finish. Even so, this was very encouraging and the team is super excited to return to Dillon in two short weeks!
Pretty solid night back after a rather long break. Timed in fifth quick and brought the car home in one piece in fifth. Joshua was able to run consistent lap times throughout the race and was able to stay patient all race long. The team looks to head back to the shop and continue searching for speed.
NEXT RACE : July 6th at Dillon Motor Speedway for the Salute America 200 Fireworks Night!
Mother Nature sure isn't being kind to Fireball and his team this season. Unfortunately, this past weekend (Round #4) was again washed out and with prior off-track commitments, the team will not be in attendance on June 1st. Fireball Culbreth Racing will return to Dillon Motor Speedway on June 15th for their Shriner's Race for Children 300 Night and we hope to see everyone there!
Unfortunately, no amount of effort by the track could hold off mother nature this past weekend for Round 3 at Dillon Motor Speedway. The team will take the next two weeks to go over the car with a fine tooth comb and look to have a strong outing at the next race on March 18th.
✔️We had a great day!
✔️Qualified 8th and finished 7th. Moved up one position.
✔️Stayed on the lead lap.
✔️Got a little damage from getting into it with another driver in turns 3 and 4. I had a good run on the other car but when I went down there he pinched me down. Just a racing incident!
We just did get our race in before the bottom fell out!⛈️🌩⚡️
Thank you to all my friends family and fans for always cheering me on! Thanks to my sponsors for all of their support!!
First race in the new Charger division is officially in the books, and it was a great first outing for the Fireball Culbreth Racing team! The main goal of the day was to get some much needed seat time, complete all the laps, and bring the car home in one piece. Fireball did a great job behind the wheel by checking all these boxes and bringing the car home in 4th. The crew is very proud of their driver and are already preparing for "DuctWorks Heating & Cooling 300 Night" in a few short weeks on April 20th at Dillon Motor Speedway! Hope to see everyone there!
Fireball has been getting more and more comfortable with each practice session this offseason. Can't wait to get the year kicked off here soon! In the meantime, enjoy this video of Joshua's footwork around Florence Motor Speedway!
As we ring in the new year, Fireball has been preparing for his Charger division debut in 2024. The team plans to run tracks such as, Florence Speedway in Florence, South Carolina.
"I am super excited for this opportunity and look forward to making more laps as we continue to prepare for 2024" said Joshua Culbreth. "I can't wait to get the season started and see how we stack up against this new class of cars".
The team will be posting their 2024 schedule in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for more information!
***Florence Motor Speedway Recap***
We entered the final points race just 10 points out of 2nd in the points championship. As luck would have it, we would have a record-breaking car count for this race. They took the top 10 from qualifying and locked them into the race, and unfortunately, we timed in 12th out of the 21 cars on the property. We raced hard in the B-Main but after some contact early on, we ended up coming home 4th, two spots short of the transfer. This was not how we wanted to close the chapter on the Bandolero, but we are excited to start practicing the Charger and begin preparing for next season!
This past weekend the CARS Tour was in town at Wake County and the bandoleros filled the docket as a support division. Unfortunately, lady luck decided to show up yet again this season. As qualifying got underway, Joshua got up to speed and tried to lay down a lap worthy of starting up front. Unfortunately, he got loose getting into turn one and smacked the outside wall. The bad luck continued as the team looked over the damage and found a bent axle. Read More...
This past weekend we made the trip to Wake County Speedway on Friday and Florence Motor Speedway on Saturday.
On Friday, Joshua would fire off fourth and immediately go to work on one of his tough competitors, Gavin Holland. Unfortunately, the two would make contact coming out of turn four resulting in right front damage and creating a slight tire rub. This damage would not be enough to sideline the team, but it would cause the car to get tighter and tighter throughout the run and Fireball eventually brought the car home in third. Read More...
This past weekend we ran a double header at Wake County Speedway in Raleigh, North Carolina. We went to the track early this week to try some things in open practice and were able to find some really good speed. Unfortunately, when it came time to qualify, we got hung up behind another car and it ruined a promising qualifying run. Fireball was able to make the best of a bad situation and qualify the car in sixth.
This had us lining up sixth for the first feature. Joshua wasted no time and started picking cars off from the drop of the green flag. Read More...
Nothing too exciting to post about last night's race at Wake County Speedway. First practice we were 3rd fastest, qualified 4th and finished 4th. We are missing a little bit of speed, not too far off. However I did turn my fastest time out there last night with a 15.0! There just isn't enough time to make many changes at the track so we may try to make it out to early practice on this Friday.
I am still holding on to the points lead but of course, that will most likely change because I will not be racing on Friday 8/11. Read More...
Friday night started off rough, but we were able to recover fairly well for a solid night. We made some adjustments after practice which ultimately killed the speed of the car for qualifying. We were able to learn from this but would have to roll off 7th as a result. Fireball was able to start slowing picking off cars and was also able to avoid a big wreck infront of him. Unfortunately, some of the cars in the accident were given their spots back which buried Joshua for the restart. The team was able to come home with a fourth place finish, which was good enough to keep the points lead. We will be back to try our hand again this Friday night.
Another podium finish and an Outlaw division win was exactly what the doctor ordered for Fireball Culbreth Racing!
After such a rough start to the season, Joshua is really starting to find his stride as we enter the heat of the summer. Coming off of a strong second place run last week, Fireball was able to repeat that success with another second this week!
These back-to-back strong runs at Wake County really give Joshua a lot of confidence heading into tonight's double header at New River All-American Speedway!
Joshua had an amazing night at Wake County Speedway this past weekend! He ran hard all night long, and was able to qualify third, which was a very solid effort.
When the green flag dropped, Joshua would quickly make a move and advance to second. Throughout the race, Joshua and Jay Hemingway would race hard swapping second and third multiple times.
At the end of the night, it was Fireball coming out on top of the duo and bringing his car home for a hard fought second place finish overall which was good enough for the Outlaw division win!
All in all it was a pretty good weekend for our team. We started the weekend off at Wake County on Friday night. We were in the hunt all night long running inside the top three most of the night. Unfortunately, the chain would break coming to the checkered and we did not get the finish we deserved. Joshua was able to run some of his fastest laps at Wake County so all in all, a productive night.
On Saturday, Fireball was again able to battle within the top three all race long, but he was battling an ill handling car. He was able to pull off an impressive second place finish which was a great ending to a rollercoaster of a weekend.
Next Up : Orange County Speedway (June 10th, 2023)
What a weekend?!? After taking two weeks off due to the massive flip at Florence at the end of April, the team set out for Wake County on Friday followed up by a return to Florence for their double header. Fireball showed no signs of slowing down after the nasty crash by logging an impressive third place run at Wake County Friday night against a strong group of competitors. On Saturday, Joshua spent much of the day hanging out with friends including Brexton Busch before recording a pair of 5th place finishes. Overall a remarkable comeback after such a bad weekend just two weeks prior.
The bad luck continues for Fireball and his crew at Florence Speedway! As luck would have it, Joshua was running some great times in practice and working on fine tuning the car for the evenings feature when a couple slower cars got together in front of him and he had nowhere to go. Fireball made contact with one of the other cars and it turned him upside down and set off a chain of multiple flips. Luckily Joshua walked away under his own power, but the same could not be said for the car. The team plans to diagnose the damage and see if this weekends races are still in the cards or not. Thank you to all of our fans for checking in on Joshua, we greatly appreciate it!
This past Friday night, Fireball and the crew made the trip to Wake County Speedway in Raleigh, North Carolina. The team unloaded with decent speed and qualified seventh for the 15-lap feature later on in the evening. Joshua went to work early on in the race and was able to charge his way up to a 5th place finish at the checkered flag. The team is now riding some much-needed momentum going into this weekend's race at Florence Motor Speedway on Saturday. Thank you to all of our fans and partners for the continued support!
After the luck the team has had the past few weeks, Fireball and the crew was just looking to turn their luck around and have an overall solid day in Florence. Joshua was happy with the handling of the car in practice and was able to clock in third fastest in qualifying. In the main event, Joshua would keep his nose clean and have a much needed quiet race and bring the car home in one piece in third. The team will now switch their focus to this weekends races at Wake County Speedway (Friday) and Dominion Raceway (Saturday). If you are in either of these areas, come out and enjoy the action and be sure to stop by and say hello!
Coming into this weeks race at Florence Speedway in Florence, South Carolina, Fireball and the team had high expectations after such a strong run two weeks prior. The team once again unloaded with tremendous speed timing in third in practice and backing that up with a solid qualifying effort of fourth! Unfortunately, all of this momentum would come to a screeching halt after Fireball was turned infront of the field on the second lap of the race causing damage that would end his night. Very unfortunate situation, but the team will regroup and bounce back April 1st at Caraway Speedway in Sophia, North Carolina.
All in all, a much needed quiet day for Fireball and the team in Florence, South Carolina! The team gave Joshua a good piece for this week and it showed as they unloaded with speed in the first round of practice. Fireball timed in sixth quick in practice out of the 19 entries and would go on to qualify fifth. When the 15 lap feature was all said and done, Joshua was able to bring home a very solid forth place finish giving the team some much needed momentum going into the next few races!
