This past weekend we ran a double header at Wake County Speedway in Raleigh, North Carolina. We went to the track early this week to try some things in open practice and were able to find some really good speed. Unfortunately, when it came time to qualify, we got hung up behind another car and it ruined a promising qualifying run. Fireball was able to make the best of a bad situation and qualify the car in sixth.
This had us lining up sixth for the first feature. Joshua wasted no time and started picking cars off from the drop of the green flag. Unfortunately the impressive run to the front would come up just one spot short of the feature win, making this Fireball's fourth second place finish of 2023.
In the second race, they inverted the top six which meant we would roll off fifth. Just like the first race, we started picking cars off almost immediately and would make a bid for the lead, but would ultimately spin before completing the lap as the leader. Joshua was able to fire off from the tail of the field and work his way back up to a very respectful fourth place finish!!
All in all, it was a great night of racing and we feel like we really learned some things that will help us going forward as we finish out the season here at Wake County.
